Baltimore Sneaker Show 2K12

Hello blog world, I know it has taken me awhile to actually put this blog post up about the Baltimore Sneaker Show, but I had to make sure all the components of “DOAPNESS” was in place for this. My homie Baltimore Banks (TRUTH Outfitters) made sure I came down there for this event again. I had so much fun last year, so I actually brought more people with me this year. Sole Head 13

Sole Head of the Week: Tiesha aka @HERSOLE21

Question #1: What factor helped you determine that you were going to become a sole collector?

  • I have always been infatuated with sneakers and its style since I was a little kid; but I really got serious when I was in high school when I had got my 1st pair of Air Jordan Cements III’s in 2001. I then started to appreciate sneakers a lot more.
Question #2- How would you personally describe your passion for solez?
  • I would describe my passion for solez properly as a crazy addiction, diverse, and laid back, lol! I feel like sneakers are my guilty pleasure; they make me feel good and make me feel comfortable in my own skin. I feel like sneakers complete me; Oh! And let’s not forget the outfit! I am not a loud person or don’t like a lot of attention so a lot of times you may see the front of my sneakers with maybe two rows of the laces showing from underneath the bottom of my pants; So either you know what it is or you don’t.  But overall there is nothing like a fresh pair of kicks.
Question #3- Out of your collection, what are your top 5 pairs of solez?
OMG! I always have a tough time choosing the top kicks because I loved them all but if I have to choose I would say
  • Air Jordan cement 3’s I would buy about 10-20 pair at a time if I could afford them lol! And for every time I thought the creases were getting deeper I would rock another pair. I would wear these everyday if I didn’t have other choices.
  • Foamposites, the material is indestructible, enough said
  • Air Jordan 11’s (all the colorways) just a great designed sneaker, S/O to Tinker
  • (Converse) Chuck Taylors, there are so diverse and can be a everyday shoe
  • Adidas (shell heads) They’re such a classic sneaker and bring a retro feeling to the sneaker culture
Question #4- If you had to recommend only one pair of kicks out of your collection, what would it be and why?
  • I would definitely say the Air Jordan cement 3’s with no hesitation, because the designer Tinker Hatfield did a magnificent job designing the sneaker. I think you could wear this sneaker with almost anything and people heads with still turn.  It was the first Air Jordan to have a visible air bubble on the heel, the new Jump-man logo and the Nike logo on the back of the shoe, and not to mention the elephant print trim, which is aw-inspiring to me and tumble leather. I mean there are all types of factors that come into play with this sneaker. I could go on for days… lol about why I recommend this sneaker. I just love this Sneaker.
Question #5- Is there any word of advice that you would give to up and coming sole collectors in training?
  • I would say just be yourself, It’s not about how many pairs of sneakers you have or what may cost the most money and or who wearing what and who’s not; just rock or stock at you own discretion. lol

Sole Head of the Week: @AsAp_Ali

Question #1: What factor helped you determine that you were going to become a sole collector?

  • My passion for the game began when I was very young, I idolized the older kids in my neighborhood rocking the Jordan’s and Penny’s, my parents weren’t those parents who spoiled me from the womb, if I wanted the kicks, I had to work for them, haha. I was the “2 pair per school year” kid, you know that kid who showed up 1st day of school with a fresh pair and again after Christmas break? Yep, that was me, haha. But as I got older, I was able to feed my addiction even though my parents NEVER understood, and 25 years in they still don’t.

Question #2- How would you personally describe your passion for solez?

  • My passion is equivalent to MJ’s passion for Basketball, the other MJ’s passion for dancing, and Kobe’s passion for Winning. The Sole game is my 2nd wife, I have many different passions and aspirations in life, but my love for the game is something I want to pass to my kids one day.

Question #3- Out of your collection, what are your top 5 pairs of solez?

This is probably the hardest question I’m always asked, mainly because whenever I purchase a pair, it’s either a childhood favorite or a pair I fell in love with from the first sight. But since I have to play favorites, right now it’s..

  • Air Jordan Black/Varsity Red VI

  • Black Metallic V

  • Nike Zoom Kobe VI “Chaos” (those are crazy)

  • Nike LeBron 9 “Cannon”

  • the eye catching “South Beach” LeBron 8′s

Question #4- If you had to recommend only one pair of kicks out of your collection, what would it be and why?

  • Out of my ENTIRE collection it’ll have to be a pair that’s not in my top 5, my Black/Cement Air Jordan III, these were the first pair of Jordan’s that caught my eyes when I was younger, many people consider the XI model to be the greatest of all time, but I’m sorry, the 3 is KING.

Question #5- Is there any word of advice that you would give to up and coming sole collectors in training?

  • Be Original, period. Follow your first opinion about a pair, if you fall in love with them from the start, make them yours, don’t change your opinion after you see “HYPE” or a certain notoriety gained by others, be yourself. Remember every pair has a story, have fun with them, but collect and take care of responsibilities at the same time. If there’s a certain release you miss don’t hang your head, there is NO shoe that is unattainable. You chase until you have the glory.

Swoosh Certified

Hello blog world, let me start off by saying that anything in this post is not an opinion of Nike. Now onto other things, many of you know I was sent out to Portland on business of course but during my breaks, I took some pictures of what I was able to. It’s a beautiful place and I would actually love to go there on my own time to explore more. This blog post is to show you some things from the Jordan and Bo Jackson buildings as well as some stuff from the Nike Portland store.

Finding an area or place of zen as I call it, is very hard to find. The very moment I got onto the Nike Campus, I found a place of zen. I went there two times a day during my stay. All I kept telling myself was “I can’t believe I’m actually on campus, this has to be a dream come true”

Check out what my eyes seen in the Jordan Building

Let’s Check that JORDAN HEAT IN GLASS!!!

Someone may question theses next two pictures, but to be honest I was amazed by the banners hanging on the basketball court in the Bo Jackson building.

A glimpse of the Nike Portland store…. shout-out to my homeboy Kyle who is out in Portland giving them a taste of what NYC has to offer!

There is a statue of Michael Jordan hanging….which is quite DOPE!

I fell in love with these Lebron 9 ID’s (obsidian/red)

The White/Red MJ Collection

To end this blog on the right note, Nike Portland pays tribute to the man who is the co-founder of Blue Ribbon Sports which is now known as Nike, Inc. If any of your shoes have a waffle outsole, please thank Bill Bowerman and his wife’s waffle iron for experimenting on such an innovative design.

“If you have a body, you are an athlete” – Bill Bowerman (1911-1999)

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I’m working hard to achieve my dreams. I allow these specific words to flow through my veins, “the greatest improvement is made by the man who works most intelligently.” Bill Bowerman said it best, which is why I have played my cards right in my career thus far and I will continue.
